Plotting Your Career Trajectory: Tips for Early Success

Time: Wednesday, March 13, 2013 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm
Description

Moderated by Laura Sierra, senior associate at Alston & Bird LLP, the panel will feature two senior associates from Alston & Bird LLP, Brian Frey and Kelley Barnaby along with partners Ted Kang and Marianne Casserly. The panelists will discuss various aspects of associate development, from considerations for the most junior associate to how to properly position yourself for partnership consideration as a senior associate. Among the topics for discussion will be: how to plan your career trajectory; how to develop areas of specialization; how to obtain opportunities to develop skill sets; how to market your practice both internally and externally; how to navigate the politics of law firm life; and other associate-focused issues. The panelists hop that associates in attendance will leave with a renewed focus on the importance of actively managing the course of their law firm careers and with tips to begin implementing immediately.

This luncheon program is sponsored by the Young Lawyers Committee of the Corporation, Finance and Securities Law Section, in cosponsorship with the Law Practice Management Section and Litigation Section.
