7.1 Petitions

 

Formal disciplinary proceedings shall be instituted by Bar Counsel by the filing of a petition under oath with the Executive Attorney (with a copy to the Clerk of the Court) which shall be sufficiently clear and specific to inform respondent of the alleged misconduct and the disciplinary rule or rules alleged to have been violated. Petitions shall be based on probable cause to believe that respondent has committed a crime, breached the Attorney’s Oath of Office, or violated the rules of professional responsibility.
