Generating Content on a Replication Target Server

In addition to generating static content from the authoring server, static content can also be generated on a replication target server. If the site on the authoring.example.com server was replicated to the www.example.com server, you would have two additional URLs to configure on the authoring server (All Static/Dynamic URLs are configured on the Authoring server).

The Public Static and Dynamic URLs would no longer resolve to a local directory on the Authoring server. They would be designated on the target server. The Test Static and Dynamic URLs would still resolve locally, and can be used to test the content locally before publishing.

Note: If you want to test the static content locally before publishing it to your live server, simply map both the Public Static and Public Dynamic URLs on your target server to resolve to the same directory (the current CommonSpot site directory).

Once you have tested content locally, you can stop generating content locally by turning off the ColdFusion Scheduled Task for the background static content generation (see Rebuild Static Pages Dialog). Then you would enable static content generation on the target server.

Note: The Public Static and Public Dynamic URLs are configured on the Authoring server only.
