D.C. Court Update: Administrative Order No. 16-01--Pairing of Judges

Each active judge opposite a retired or senior judge is hereby designated to hear all matters, including probation revocation matters, that would normally be heard by the retired judge or senior judge, unless the Chief Judge authorizes the senior judge to hear the matter, except that where a senior judge is presiding on a misdemeanor calendar, cases heard by the senior judge will remain on the calendar unless the senior judge orders otherwise.

Taking the July 2015 Bar Exam? You will be able to use your laptop to write your essay!

For the first time in the District of Columbia, those taking the July 2015 Bar Examination will be permitted to use a laptop computer for the essay portion of the exam. Deadline to pay the fee is June 30 and must have the software downloaded to the laptop by July 24.

DC Superior Court Names New Clerk of Court

James D. McGinley has been appointed as Clerk of the Superior Court by Chief Judge Lee Satterfield and DC Courts Executive Officer Anne Wicks. His appointment will be effective June 8, 2015. As Court Clerk, McGinley will oversee all Superior Court operations, including Civil, Criminal, Domestic Violence, Family Court, Multi-Door Dispute Resolution (Mediation), Probate, Special Operations (including Interpreter Services and the Jurors’ Office) and Tax Divisions, as well as the Crime Victims Compensation Program.
