Kim BeyKim Bey has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1990 and is celebrated as one of the District of Columbia's top tax experts and business advisors. She is an author of the Amazon best-seller "Secrets of a Tax-Free Life: Surprising Write-Off Strategies Most Business Owners Miss." Currently, she serves on the Practice Management Service Committee of the D.C. Bar and provides the District's attorneys with expert tax advice to help them manage their own practices. She speaks regularly for the D.C. Bar as well as for the Maryland Bar Association and other groups.  



Niki Black 2018Nicole (Niki) Black, Esq. 
is a Rochester, New York attorney and the Legal Technology Evangelist at MyCase, a law practice management software company. She is the nationally-recognized author of "Cloud Computing for Lawyers" (2012) and a co-author of "Social Media: The Next Frontier" (2010), both published by the American Bar Association. She also co-authors "Criminal Law in New York," a Thomson West treatise. She writes a weekly column for The Daily Record, has authored hundreds of articles and regularly speaks at conferences about the intersection of law, mobile computing and Internet-based technology.

Tasha (TC) Cooper, Esq. is an attorney, best-selling author and social media strategist. Bar; and numerous individual attorneys, consultants, and small firms. Claude Ducloux

Claude Ducloux, Esq. is a Board Certified Civil Trial and Civil Appellate lawyer, and a national CLE speaker on Lawyer Ethics, Office Management and Client Relations, who has spoken at CLE events more than 100 times since Jan 2016. In 2011, the State Bar of Texas honored him with their highest award for Lifetime Achievement in CLE, the Gene Gavin Award. In addition to his practice, Mr. Ducloux serves as the Director of Education, Ethics and State Compliance for LawPay.

Thomas J. Hamilton, LL.B., B.C.L. is the VP of Strategy and Operations at ROSS Intelligence, where he helps coordinate efforts across the company to ensure that sole practitioners, legal aid groups, law firms, state bar associations and law faculties get as much value out of ROSS as possible.

Prior to joining the ROSS Intelligence team Mr. Thomas was a lawyer at the Toronto office of Dentons. He speaks in both the United States and abroad on legal technology innovation and law firm strategy, and believes passionately in the ability of artificial intelligence to improve access to justice worldwide.

Mary Ellen Hickman MBA, is the head of Hickman Consulting Partners and a seasoned business and marketing strategy consultant with over twenty years of experience in the US and overseas. Her qualifications include in-market expertise in US consumer packaged goods, particularly in nationwide new brand and product launch; developing and evaluating TV, radio, print, outdoor and online advertising at Coors, Warner-Lambert and Kraft; launching three successful small businesses in the US and overseas; and most recently developing effective, efficient branding and marketing strategies and plans to grow businesses and nonprofits in metro DC.

Niki L. Irish, LICSW is a senior counselor with the D.C. Bar Lawyer Assistance Program. She has over ten years' experience in counseling and mental health. She has a B.S. in Psychology and Family Studies from Stevenson University (formerly Villa Julie College) and an MSW from the University of Maryland School of Social Work, with a concentration in Employee Assistance Programs.





Dr. Rick Kabra

Dr. Rick Kabra is the CEO of CosmoLex Cloud, a web-based law practice management system designed for small law firms. He has a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and has over 12 years of experience in the legal software industry catering to the specialized technology needs of small law firms. Mr. Kabra has given over 100 seminars and published numerous articles on legal technologies about law office management, cloud computing, legal billing, and business and trust account compliance issues. His passion is to help attorneys use technology to simplify their law firm operations. He is the co-author of the book, Law Firm Accounting Demystified; he has presented hundreds of seminars around the world; and he has published numerous articles on legal technologies related to law office management, cloud computing, legal billing, and business & trust accounting compliance issues.

Yvette Mitchell, LICSW, is a mental health professional with over 15 years of social work experience. She is a senior counselor with the District of Columbia Bar's Lawyer Assistance Program. In her role she provides assessment and referral services to attorneys and law students who are struggling with substance use issues, depression, anxiety, life transitions, low self-esteem, and emotional intelligence. Additionally, Ms. Mitchell maintains a private practice in Northern Virginia, where she provides psychotherapy services for adolescents, adults, and families. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Texas at El Paso and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland. She is recognized as a licensed clinical social worker by the District of Columbia and Virginia.

Daniel Schumack

Daniel Schumack, Esq. has been presenting ethics-focused CLE programs for the D.C. Bar since 2006. He defends lawyers facing bar complaints in the District, Virginia, and Maryland. Erika Stillabower, Esq. joined the legal ethics program at the District of Columbia Bar in 2013. In her role, as senior ethics counsel, she provides guidance to members of the D.C. Bar seeking information on the interpretation and application of the D.C. Rules of Professional Conduct. She contributes to columns on legal ethics that appear in the Washington Lawyer and regularly serves as faculty on MCLE accredited ethics courses. In addition, she provides staff support to the both the Legal Ethics Committee and the Rules Review Committee of the D.C. Bar. In connection with her committee work, she assists in drafting both informal chair letters and published Legal Ethics Committee opinions. Ms. Stillabower previously spent eight years as an associate at a D.C. law firm, where her practice focused on white collar criminal defense and government litigation. She graduated from Georgetown University Law Center, where she served as an associate editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. She lives in Washington, DC, with her husband and two children. 

Hope Todd

Hope C. Todd, Esq. s the Assistant Director of Legal Ethics, Regulation Counsel, at the District of Columbia Bar. Since 2006, Ms. Todd has provided legal ethics guidance through the D.C. Bar's Ethics Helpline on the interpretation and application of the D.C. Rules of Professional Conduct. Ms. Todd regularly teaches ethics CLEs and has served on panels for local, national and international audiences. She is a contributing author for the "Ask the Ethics Experts" and "Speaking of Ethics" features for the Washington Lawyer. Ms. Todd is staff counsel to the D.C. Bar Rules of Professional Conduct Review and Legal Ethics Committees and also serves as a staff consultant to the Bar's Global Legal Practice Task Force. Ms. Todd is a former member of the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility (2014-2017) and served as the SCEPR liaison to the ABA Commission on the Future of Legal Services. She is a member of the National Organization of Bar Counsel (NOBC) and participates on the NOBC subcommittee on Entity Regulation. She belongs to the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers (APRL) and the ABA Center on Professional Responsibility. Before joining the D.C. Bar in 1998, Ms. Todd was in private practice in the state of New York. She is a graduate of the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond, and holds a B.A. in public policy from the College of William and Mary. Ms. Todd lives in Virginia with her husband, three children, and dog, Sandy.

Matthew Volm is the CEO and co-founder of Tali, a conversational time-tracking assistant powered by voice technology like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. With Tali, lawyers can track their time using only their voice and sync their data directly to their invoicing system, completely eliminating the chore of manual time entry. He lives with his wife and son in Portland, Oregon, and his wife is an attorney, so he's seen first-hand the pain and challenges associated with tracking billable time. He's now obsessed with making time tracking a less painful task for everyone who has to bill by the hour or track time to manage productivity. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance, and received his MBA from the UC-Berkeley Haas School of Business.
