D.C. Court of Appeals Appoints New Members of the Board on Professional Responsibility

On July 17, 2018, the D.C. Court of Appeals appointed Bernadette C. Sargeant, Esquire, and Sundeep Hora, Esquire, to serve three-year terms as attorney members of the Board on Professional Responsibility, effective August 1, 2018. 


Ms. Sargeant, a Hearing Committee member since 2015, is a partner at Stinson Leonard Street, where she counsels and represents clients in a range of employment law issues. Prior to joining Stinson Leonard Street, Ms. Sargeant represented private industry clients in her own practice and served as an Assistant United States Attorney, during which time she gained significant jury trial and appellate experience representing the government as a prosecutor and in civil litigation. Mr. Hora was appointed as an alternate Hearing Committee member in 2013. He is a partner at Alderman, Devorsetz & Hora PLLC, where he represents individuals and businesses in civil litigation with an emphasis on employment law. Prior to his current firm, Mr. Hora was an associate at Arnold & Porter and a law clerk to U.S District Court Judge Marvin Garbis in Baltimore, Maryland.  

Also, on July 17, 2018, the Court re-appointed Board Chair Robert C. Bernius, Esquire, to serve the one year remaining in the term of departing Board Member Thomas R. Bundy, III, Esquire, and to serve as Board Chair; appointed Matthew G. Kaiser, Esquire, to serve as Vice-Chair; and re-appointed Mary Lou Soller, Esquire, to serve a one-year term as an attorney member of the Board.
