The D.C. Bar Board of Governors is seeking candidates for appointment in the spring to various committees. The deadline for submitting application materials is Friday, March 13, 2015.
Standing Committees: Attorney/Client Arbitration Board, Clients' Security Fund, Judicial Evaluation Committee, Legal Ethics Committee.

Board on Professional Responsibility of the D.C. Court of Appeals: Three individuals will be selected for each vacancy and forwarded to the D.C. Court of Appeals for final appointment. Preference is given to individuals with experience on BPR hearing committees. Bar members interested in being considered for BPR hearing committee vacancies that arise periodically should send a letter of interest and résumé to the Board on Professional Responsibility, 430 E Street NW, Suite 138, Washington, DC 20001.
D.C. Bar Foundation Board of Directors: The D.C. Bar Board of Governors is accepting applications from D.C. Bar members who are interested in serving on the D.C. Bar Foundation's Board of Directors. Consideration will be given to individuals who have experience with or knowledge of fundraising, finance, and the D.C. community and its legal services providers.
The deadline to apply for the D.C. Bar Foundation vacancies is February 10, 2015.
To apply for a board or committee opening, please submit a résumé and a cover letter stating the committee(s) or board(s) on which you would like to serve and a description of relevant work or volunteer experience. Applications that do not include the requisite cover letter with a description of relevant experience will not be considered. Leadership experience with other D.C. The 16th Annual Youth Law Fair will focus on profiling and promoting understanding between youth and local law enforcement through increased dialogue. This year's event will feature mock trials, youth speak-out sessions and raffle giveaways. This day of education and fun brings high school students, judges, lawyers, and educators together to explore issues faced by youth in the surrounding area. Other features of the event are exhibitors, tours of the courthouse and holding cells that are led by D.C. Superior Court judges, and a catered lunch. The free program will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015. We recommend that you register individuals and groups early as space is limited each year.
Who Can Volunteer for the Youth Law Fair?
- D.C. Bar members, staff and their immediate family members
- D.C. Bar Youth Law Fair exhibitors and their staff
- D.C. Bar Youth Law Fair committee members
- Any parent attending the Youth Law Fair with his or her child
- Any licensed lawyer who can provides proof of membership in his/her state Bar other than the D.C. Bar
- Any judge, clerk, intern or staff member of the D.C. Court of Appeals, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia or the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit
- Law students from law schools located in the District of Columbia
