Three magistrate judges of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia have announced their candidacy for reappointment. The terms of Magistrate Judges Julie R. Breslow, Tara J. Fentress, and Karen Aileen Howze are set to expire on September 11.

Magistrate judges are appointed to serve four-year terms and are assigned to either the family court or other divisions of the Superior Court, depending on the needs of the court at the time the position is filled.

The Committee on the Selection and Tenure of Magistrate Judges invites comments on the performance of Breslow, Fentress, and Howze. Comments must be received by July 29. Any comments received by the committee concerning a candidate for reappointment will remain confidential.

The committee will review the magistrate judges’ prior service as well as comments submitted by members of the bench, bar, and public. Following the review, the committee will submit a written report and recommendations concerning the candidates to Superior Court Chief Judge Lee F. Satterfield.

Comments must be mailed to The Honorable Russell F. Canan, Chairperson, Committee on the Selection and Tenure of Magistrate Judges, Superior Court of the District of Columbia, 500 Indiana Avenue NW, Chambers 3420, Washington, DC 20001.
