Comments Sought on Magistrate Judges Raymond and Staples' Reappointment

D.C. Superior Court Members of the bench, bar, and general public are hereby notified that the above-named Magistrate Judges have declared their candidacy for reappointment as a Magistrate Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Magistrate Judges Renee Raymond and Sean C. Staples' terms will expire on December 23, 2017.

Pursuant to the Standards and Procedures for the Selection and Tenure of Magistrate Judges, a committee of Superior Court Judges designated by the Chief Judge will review the Magistrate Judges' prior service and any comments from members of the bench, bar, and public. Following its review, the Committee will submit to the Chief Judge written reports and recommendations concerning the candidacy for reappointment. Comments on the performances of Magistrate Judges Raymond and Staples are invited. Comments must be received on or before November 17, 2017, and should be emailed to Judge Russell F. Canan, chair, Committee on the Selection and Tenure of Magistrate Judges, Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

Any information received by the Committee concerning a candidate under consideration for reappointment shall be maintained in strict confidence.
