Pro Bono Program Receives Sixth 4-Star Rating From Charity Navigator

August 19, 2014

The D.C. Bar Pro Bono Program has received its sixth consecutive four-star rating from Charity Navigator, the country’s leading evaluator of charitable organizations, for its sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency.

Based on Charity Navigator’s rating criteria, the four-star rating indicates that the Pro Bono Program “adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities,” and that it “consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way.” Only 3 percent of the charities reviewed by Charity Navigator have earned the same rating in as many years.

The Pro Bono Program was evaluated using financial performance metrics such as program, administrative, and fundraising expenses and fundraising efficiency, as well as accountability and transparency metrics.

Charity Navigator rates charities based on financial information they provide on their informational tax returns each year.
