Judicial and Bar Conference
During the spring in alternating years, the District of Columbia Courts and the District of Columbia Bar collaborate to present a joint conference. The event brings together judges, D.C. Bar leadership, and members of the legal community to discuss timely issues facing the profession. This year, distinguished speakers and panelists will tackle the theme "Meeting Mental Health Challenges in Our Legal System."
A highlight of the conference will be the morning plenary, "Community Integration and the Courts," which will immediately precede the conference keynote luncheon. State Senator Creigh Deeds from Virginia will serve as the keynote luncheon speaker. Over the last year, Senator Deeds has become a leading voice in the fight to reform Virginia's mental health system following the death of his son, who suffered from mental illness.
The conference will also include a CLE course that explores cutting-edge legal ethics issues, where participants can earn MCLE ethics credits for other jurisdictions, as well as a closing judicial reception to honor all judges in the District of Columbia.
